The Shire of Dernehealde is the Athens County (Athens), Ohio chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. We are centered on the campus of Ohio University. The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century predominantly Western Europe. This is accomplished in part by events where members can participate in a variety of activities – from tournaments, arts exhibits, classes, workshops, dancing, feasts, and more. Much of the experimentation and camaraderie is accomplished at our regular weekly meetings.
The following professional video gives a glimpse at the allure the SCA has for so many of us.
The September issue of our newsletter The Derneherald is now up. You can view it online, or download it. It is in PDF format, so you will need a PDF viewer like Foxit or Adobe Acrobat Reader. Both of these programs are free for personal use.
