In the SCA, there are two distinct sides. One is reenactment and the other is the modern world responsibilities. Certain offices straddle this line such as the Seneschal’s office, Exchequer’s office, Chatelaine’s office and the Marshallate.
All offices have their own reporting schedule when they send in updates (quarterly, bi-annually or other as outlined for that office) on the health of the local group (Chapter) and the various activities of that office. The updates are sent to their immediate supervisor – be that at the “Baronial” level (governs a group of local chapters), Regional (geographical area) or Kingdom (larger geographical area equivalent to a District).

Chapter President
This officer is responsible for the administration of the local chapter/group. This includes having to enforce the Society’s policies for activities on the reenactment and modern sides. This officer is also the legal representative of the SCA at the local level.

This officer is responsible for administering the finances of the local group. This includes reporting all monies taken in or spent and why/how.
Chatelaine
Newcomer Liaison
This officer is responsible for helping people new to the SCA to transition to our culture. He or she helps by explaining various terms used, finding out what interested the new person to check out the SCA and help them to find their place in our group(s).
Marshal
Sport Combat Safety Officer
This officer is responsible for martial activities in the group, including armored combat practices, and if the group hosts an event, is usually the Marshal in Charge for that event.
Minister Arts & Sciences
Educational Coordinator
This officer is responsible for fostering the study of period culture and technology, and methods for producing historically accurate artifacts and performances.
Pursuivant/Herald
Researcher, public speaker
This officer helps to research period naming and armorial practices for the registration of names and armory for the populace. They are voice heralds, calling announcements, proclaiming who is fighting upon the field, and acting as the voice of nobility in court. They are protocol heralds, recording awards and honors bestowed, drafting ceremonies, and determining precedence and other period legal niceties in all sorts of situations.

Newsletter Editor
This officer is responsible for the editing and publication of the group’s newsletter. This often includes having to remind people to submit articles, artwork, recipes, etc. for publication in the newsletter.

This officer is responsible for the group’s modern electronic presence on the World Wide Web.
Thrown Weapons Marshal
Target Sport Safety Officer – Thrown Weapons specific
This officer is responsible for thrown weapons activities in the group, including thrown weapon practices, and if the group hosts an event, is usually the Thrown Weapons Marshal in Charge for that event.
Rapier Marshal
Sport Combat Safety Officer – Rapier specific
This officer is responsible for rapier activities in the group, including practices, and if the group hosts an event, is usually the Rapier Marshal in Charge for that event.
Archery Marshal
Target Sport Safety Officer – Target Archery specific
This officer is responsible for target archery activities in the group, including practices, and if the group hosts an event, is usually the Archery Marshal in Charge for that event.
